Ameda breast pumps go Ultra

I've been using an Ameda Purely Yours breast pump since I first attempted to pump with my oldest daughter. It's certainly not full of bells and whistles, but as an occasional pumper, it served me well.

So I was glad to see they've recently released an Ultra version of their original breast pump, taking the features one step further. First, it features three different size flanges--because all breasts are not created equal, right? There's also a special system which prevents breast milk from getting to the hard to clean motor and tubing, so you only have to disinfect a few of the parts after each use. And the entire thing is BPA free.

I like that you can ditch the plug for double AA batteries if you're a breastfeeding mama on the move. and if so, you'll like the suede/faux leather carrying bag which doesn't scream I'm carrying a breast pump. Provided you can keep it clean of spitup.

Considering my Purely Yours breast pump is still going strong after five years and three babies, I'd be willing to bet this one will do just as well, if not better. -Kristen
