I am always impressed by those upcycle crafters who look at what most of us would send off to Salvation Army and see the potential for something fabulous and new. Or in the case of Australian artist and mom of four Leah, creating dozens of adorable plush scottie dogs out of weathered vintage chenille blankets.
Backed with vintage-style fabric, and with embroidered eyes, any one of her born again creatures make a safe and beloved baby gift. In fact, Martha or JJ or the very orange Spencer will surely be more appreciated that that bedspread was to someone back in the day.
There are also some sweet patchwork rag blankets in the shop worth ogling. Evidently one other thing a vintage chenille blanket can be turned into is a new chenille blanket. Makes sense to me. -Liz
