My kids wear uniforms to school. In general, I'm a big fan because it makes getting out the door that much easier (white polo! navy shorts! let's go!). But I get a little wistful when I'm shopping for school clothes -- after all, how excited can you get about white polo shirts?
Not very, I'll tell you what.
This year, Sweden's Polarn O. Pyret is totally cheering me up with their first foray into fall for the states. Their selection of cool, slightly quirky, high quality European pieces are the perfect antidote to boring basics with retro patterns and outre colors that are practical, sturdy and wearable, no matter what your child's personal style.
I'm hoping I can talk my sons into something with their signature stripes, like a bright rugby shirt or a pullover sweater or a classic tee. Shopping for girls? I like the drawstring tunic with some fabulous leggings, or a soft cotton dress with printed tights. There are also some sporty fleece jackets for babies and kids in more modern colors than what you normally find out there.
The prices are a pretty comparable to Gap, but the quality is more comparable to Hanna Andersson.These are the clothes that will last and last through second kids, if not second generations. And so much cuter than a white polo and navy shorts. -Susan
