Umba Box: the monthly gift you give to yourself

If not, you need to check out this fun new service. Umba Box is a monthly subscription service of curated handmade goods. It could be an organic scarf, jewelry, soaps, hair clips, mittens, lip balms, or stationery. It could be something to wear (that will fit anyone), to use, to look at, one big thing or several doodads. That's the fun--you never know what you're going to get. But you know it's going to be handmade, carefully chosen, and accompanied by info on the artisan. And from what we've seen on the Umba Box blog, it's going to be gorgeous. Think Birchbox, only not limited to beauty product samples. The subscription is $26 a month, so it's definitely for a certain type of mom. You can sign up yourself (or a friend!) for a three, six, or twelve month package, or you can purchase on a month-by-month basis. Shipping is free, but there isn't currently any discount for subscribing ahead of time. There also isn't a way to specify your likes, dislikes, allergies, or issues, although they guarantee they'll exchange your box for something different if you seriously, seriously hate it, which seems fair. But that shouldn't happen. I've seen the first box, and it's adorable. So adorable, in fact, that I bought one for myself--but I'm not telling what it is! Every life needs more happy surprises.
