We love finding new crafters and artists, especially when they're just getting started. And no one seems to define that better than two talents we've just found--especially considering they haven't even hit their mid-teens yet. Yes, really.
Amelia (top left) is the 13 year-old daughter of Anna Fader of Mommy Poppins fame. Her Jumprings and Jellybeans blog features tutorials for many of the crafts (mostly jewelry but also some watercolor and paper crafts) that she's making, all presented with such a charming, wry tone. A natural blogger! An excerpt for a make-your-own button tutorial intro:
I keep seeing cute projects labeled "What to do with all your buttons" or "How to use up your button collection" and I started to get upset, because I felt like everyone was leaving me out of some secret club of button hoarders or something. I have no buttons.
Amelia has also just opened the JumpNJelly Etsy Shop so you can buy some of the creations yourself. From an Ombre Clay Necklace that's pretty awesome, to an upcycled watch made more fun with chains and a little locket charm--I can tell you that my own girls are already calling dibs on some pieces.
Then at 12 and hailing from Australia, there's also the amazingly talented Zali who blogs at Miss Zali. Her needle felting is pretty darn unreal, and it's for sale as well through her site. The prices are incredibly reasonable, so much so that the shipping from Queensland is totally worth it.
Zali's site is about as beautiful as any adult design blogger, and with ad trades, short films, and posts from fans, you can tell she's on her way to being the next Gabby Blair. (Though hopefully not a mom for a very long time.) I also love her cheeky tone.
Forget crafting, I wish I wrote half as well as either of them when I was in junor high.
