I love upcycled art and design, but more so when the designs are so fantastic, you'd like them even if you didn't know a thing about their past lives. And in this case, that past life was a little dangerous, a little edgy, and had nothing to do with UV protection. Update 2015: The shop is no longer making sunglasses but they are making very cool handmade watches!

The family run Ontario shop, Second Shot, was born from a passion for skateboarding, art, eco-mindfulnes and well, cool stuff. In a collaboration with BotanyCo Eyewear they've created an awesome line of limited edtion Bamboo Skate Shades made in part from 100% recycled skateboards and bamboo.

I think I love everything about them.

If you're not in the market for some rad shades, there are other neat items at the shop too, like wristwatches, clocks and ear plugs--the through-your-stretched-out-earhole kind, not the turn-this-music-down-you-kids kind. What else would you expect from a design company that's hipper than any of us? -Liz
