Ergobaby X-tra: The baby carrier we love now with a little extra awesome.

My first son turned me into a hard-core babywearer when he made it mighty clear that he hated riding in strollers or car seats. We'd travel everywhere with nothing but our Ergobaby carrier and a diaper or two. Magic! So my ears perked up when I heard that Ergobaby's got a new carrier...with even more appeal. Although the size of the Ergobaby carrier was never an issue for my husband or me, we definitely had friends and family who could have used a few extra inches on the straps. And that's precisely what the folks at Ergobaby were hearing from their fans. And so they've created the Ergobaby X-tra, a new carrier with extra-long shoulder straps and an extra 8 inches of padded waistbelt length--which makes it perfect for larger or taller parents and caregivers. The X-tra is also a great carrier to share between parents. I tried it on just to see what it would be like if I had to share with, say, a much taller husband. Yes, there was some extra length to the straps, but it didn't really interfere with anything. (That said, if I were the main babywearer in the family, I might stick to the regular size and get a separate one for the other parent.) What I love most, though, is that this carrier is not just "X-tra" big, but extra soft, too. Made with peached cotton, this carrier feels well-loved and worn-in right off the bat. And for those who are wondering, I don't see anything on the carrier marking it as larger, so you don't have to announce to the whole world that you're wearing a larger size. So now babies who hate strollers and car seats have an even better chance of dodging their dreaded chariots in favor of the most comfy ones of all: mom and dad. -Stephanie S.
