DIY: Cute napmat for preschoolers. No guarantees if it will actually get them to sleep.

Whether or not your preschooler actually sleeps during naptime, their teachers will attempt to make such a thing happen. (My kids? Never.) If you have sewing skills, there's something really sweet about making your own napmat for little student so they feel a piece of you with them when they're away from home

I am really taken with this tutorial at one of my favorite crafty sites, The Purl Bee, for a DIY nap mat for children. It's actually got a pillow and light blanket built right in, and only uses two (large) pieces of fabric--in this case, a soft Liberty of London fabric and stronger denim.

I'm pretty basic sewer myself, but even I could follow these instructions. And as much as there are some gorgeous nap mats to buy out there, if you have the time and the skills, you can't beat the price of making your own. -Liz
