Silikids silicone drink covers
Our readers recently went nuts for Sip Snap lids, silicone drink covers that stretch to fit over any glass, turning it into a sippy. Well clearly it's a trend because now CMP favorite  Silikids has just released new silicone drink covers too, along with some other fun products that keep mealtime colorful--and a lot less messy--for families. When my youngest turned three I went on a rampage, determined that we would be a sippy-cup free home and my children would know how to drink from a regular glass, darn it. But there are times that visiting friends' kids come over, and I would love to have a few of the Siliskin silicone drink covers stashed in a drawer for those occasions. You know, just in case. Like all they're products, the tops are are made free from toxic chemicals like BPA, lead, PVC, and phthalates that are in some plastics.  Bonus: it's also hypo-allergenic. And, because it's resistant to extreme heat and cold, you can boil it or freeze it, should you feel the need.

I've tried the Siliskin Tops and found the air suction really does keep it in place. But a warning: don't fill your glass too full because you'll end up with spilled juice everywhere when you're trying to get the top on. There are a few other products worth checking out at the shop too, including the original Siliskin silicone covered glass tumblers that fit well in my preschooler's hands, with a sleeve that keeps it from slipping on the table or cracking if he happens to slam it down too hard when he's drained his apple juice like a champ. The Silibib makes a terrific baby shower gift, with a masterful crumb-catching pocket and easy wipe-down clean up. But my favorite in the bunch  is the  Silimap silicone placemat for kids which can make mealtime educational. It's grippy, so plates and glasses don't get pushed off the table, and it folds up small so you can toss it in a diaper bag easily if you want to bring it with you when you're going out to eat.

I just love how the whole collection of Silikids products come in a range of pretty, vibrant colors. But maybe the best part is that Dora isn't on one of them. Check out Siliskin silicone drink covers and other smart products for kids on the Silikid website, and keep an eye out for new additions in May.
