SheNatie handmade envelope clutches and bucket bags, providing opportunities to Native North American women
We write a lot about brands from around the world that help empower women and provide meaningful job skills and careers, from FashionABLE to To the Market and beyond. And now I'm so happy to learn about SheNative leather bags and accessories, which is doing that very thing specifically for Native North American women. Founder Devon Fiddler herself is an Indigenous woman of the Waterhen Lake First Nation in Saskatchewan, and is crowdfunding through an Indiegogo campaign to help support the launch of her new socially-driven company, but there isn't much time left and I hope we can help them reach their goal by Friday. At lower contribution levels, you'll find canvas bags, tees and mugs (She believed she could so she did) that are very cool in their own right. But the real score is one of her stunning envelope clutches for a $249 contribution. It's a modern design featuring smart contrasting colors, but made with traditional methods and leathers and I think they're just beautiful. For a little more, there's also a great-looking bucket bag (I love the navy and white for spring) with a leather feather charm where a tassel might go. Look at the funding levels on the site, you know right away this isn't an ordinary crowdfunding campaign; while $15,000 will help Devon make the first production run, successive levels will help initiate a social impact program, support a foundation that works with First Nation communities, and even bring production home from Toronto to Saskatchewan, which I think is a really noble goal, whether she gets there via Indiegogo or later on. Plus, you get a really amazing handbag or tee. Don't forget that part. Visit the SheNative Indiegogo page to find leather bags and other accessories that support First Nation women. 10% of the profits are dedicated to related foundations and charities. The Indiegogo campaign closes Friday, Jan 15, 2015 at midnight.

Eyewear that brings life to the party

At some point, most of us have accepted an inconvenient truth: reading glasses are now part of the outfit. They live on the nightstand, in the kitchen, next to the computer, and somehow always disappear precisely when we need them. But d…
