Cool heart necklaces that are as stylish as sentimental.

I am a total adherent to the "thought that counts" school of Valentine's gift giving, but sometimes that thought counts just a little more when you really know your sweetheart's taste. There's nothing wrong with classic jewelry from big-name designers, but if you have someone special in your life who likes her heart necklaces just a bit funkier than most, here are a few I have my eye on.     The clear pave sapphires set into a rose gold heart pendant (well, gold-plated sterling) are blingy in a very modern way. There are other styles too, in various combos of hot pink, black, silver and gold. ($129, Amelia Rose Design)   I've gasped at this Finn Onyx Heart Necklace since I first saw it online. I might have even clicked back a few times, just to gawk. The black onyx heart pendant is so cool on its own, but that rose cut diamond charm makes it a little more special. And the arrow toggle clasp in back? Very nice touch.  ($1300, Barney's)

I love Karen Ko jewelry so much, I could officially be called a collector now. But one thing I don't yet own: this wild Gold Pop Love III necklace. The pendant is made from 24k Swarovski crystals which dangle from five chains like a deconstructed bib necklace. Now...what to wear it with?  ($270, Amazon.)
