Okay so maybe it's a wee bit of an overstatement to say I've tried every dry shampoo -- but definitely enough that I can state with all confidence that I have discovered the very best dry shampoo. After several years sampling the dry shampoo promises from blow dry chain brands, high end salon brands, fancy haircutters-to-the-stars with their names on their own products brands, the only one I keep coming back to is Klorane Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk.
As a busy working mom, there is no way I'm washing and drying my super-thick hair every day. Or even every other day. Or every third day, ahem, if I'm honest. With a light puff of Klorane's dry shampoo on my scalp, I can go a good 6–7 days between shampoos. Kristen claims she can get even more than that, and some friends say a little less. Your results will vary.
Compared with others I've tried, it just does what it's supposed to. As in, it absorbs natural oils from your scalp so your hair looks nicer, longer. It doesn't clump in your scalp, it doesn't flake off, and it has a nice gentle, clean scent.
My suggestion though is to get the non-aerosol version, which is like a powder that comes out in a little poof, when you squeeze the bottle. It takes a little getting used to -- you can get a sense from the photo of my own well-worn bottle, above.
Having tried both, the non-aerosol version seems more effective to me than the traditional spray, it lasts longer, and you get way more for your money.
I love this product so much, I lurve it. (Bonus points if you know what I'm talking about.) I literally panic if I've forgotten to pack it on a trip. I tell pretty much every woman in my life about it, and I have the "thank you so much you've changed my life!" emails to prove it.
And by the way -- it really is the world's best travel lifesaver. Well, that and double-stick tape. And because Klorane dry shampoo isn't a liquid, I can stick it in my carry-on for short trips and skip the shampoo and conditioner entirely. Just don't forget a shower cap! You'll need it.
