Welcome to our annual editors top 10 of the year! Through the rest of the year, we'll be sharing 10 of our favorite things (no offense, Oprah) of this past year and we hope you love them too. Of course we love everything we've shared, but these things are all extra special to us.  - Liz and Kristen   Anyone who knows Cool Mom Picks knows that for the past 12 years, we've done our best to impart our values through the stories we choose to cover and the brands, makers, and organizations we feature. One of our most important values: Supporting kids and families of all kinds. Which is why this year, we've been just overwhelmed with the incredible work of RAICES.

Summer 2019 Update: What's happening at the border right now, and what RAICES is doing to help.

It's been under unfathomably horrendous circumstances -- the thousands of children who have been separated from their families at the US border as a matter of government policy -- that we discovered the outstanding, important, impactful work of many incredible organizations, but RAICES has really stood out to us for its meaningful impact. RAICES Texas is an incredibly nonprofit offering legal support to refugees, asylum seekers, and families separated at the US border The Refugee and Immigrant for Education and Legal Services is a Texas-based nonprofit providing the free and low-cost legal services that are desperately needed by immigrant children and families, unaccompanied minors, refugees, and asylum-seekers. Read about all they're doing for families in need and...wow. While they were the beneficiary of the largest fundraiser in Facebook history, generating over $20 million in donations to support their work in reuniting families and advocating for children -- they can still use a lot more. Especially when you read about all the amazing things they've accompolished this year, and how much is left to do. So here's to the incredible staff and volunteers of RAICES -- and to everyone who's supported them this year -- for recognizing that all children's lives have value, and that families really do belong together.
