To be honest, a Stevie Nicks Barbie Doll is one of the last of all the new Barbies expected to see this year. I mean, I figured Mattel still had a few more Barbie: The Movie dolls to roll out as we head toward the holidays.
So now we get The Queen of Rock n Roll? As a Barbie? Yes! YES! She deserves to be among their collection of Signature Music Dolls
I might even call her one of the great philosophers of rock. (Ahem.)
Her amazing black dress is inspired by the cover of Fleetwood Mac's 1977 Rumors album cover (eg the photo that made a zillion girls go, "who is that? And can I be her?") complete with her signature golden moon necklace, killer black boots and that iconic tambourine.
Admittedly on first glance, I thought her face looked a little more Taylor Swift than Stevie Nicks, and her hair style felt kind of 2023-core than that incredible shaggy, wavy, flowy blonde hair that I wanted so badly as a little kid any time I saw the Gypsy video on MTV.
But then I learned that Stevie Nicks herself said, "when I look at her, I see my 27 year old self...and then I see myself now in her face." So hey, if she feels her own vibe, her own spirit in her own commemorative Barbie, I am sold. (Though I think she looks spectacular today too.)
Besides, I've heard somewhere that time casts a spell on you.
Considering how much my Instagram feed blew up this week with photos from friends lucky enough to catch Stevie Nicks in concert, it's clear why preorders for the Stevie Nicks Barbie Doll are already sold out at Target. If she's on your own wish list, mark your calendars for the actual release date November 10, when you can grab one online, or in person at Target or your favorite local toy store.
